M.A., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Certified Life Coach
I am deeply committed to the process of transformation. Sometimes this is a tiny shift that leads to greater satisfaction; other times it looks like a complete renovation. Whatever the level of change you desire, I am available to join you on your journey.
Psychotherapy, EMDR, Life Coaching, & Clinical Supervision
I have the distinct privilege of supporting those who aspire to transform certain aspects of their lives. My professional experience has added to my comfort working with others in varied circumstances, including those managing transitions in their lives, those who work as first responders, returning military veterans transitioning back into civilian life, trauma survivors, and those who have experienced adversity in a multitude of ways.
Relationship therapy is an art; authentic communication is essential for partners to remain bonded. People bring their unique needs, experiences, and perspectives when they arrive to meet with me. It is my job to listen, learn what each person desires, and figure out together where support would be most beneficial. Whether you are newly attached, partnered for decades, exploring new types of commitment, or working to heal old wounds, I have the experience and training to guide you toward a deeper connection with your beloved.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Unlike traditional therapy, EMDR allows a person to process difficult experiences without talking about them in detail or working on assignments outside of treatment. You can learn more about EMDR here.
My experience as a clinical supervisor has allowed me to provide mentorship and guidance to new therapists as they navigate the end of their formal education and transition into clinical practice. I have been fortunate enough to provide clinical supervision and oversight for pre-licensed therapists working with me at Shine a Light Counseling Center, a nonprofit counseling agency that I co-founded in Santa Cruz, California.
I am proud to be a Certified Professional Life Coach through the Certified Life Coach Institute, which is an ICF-accredited program. Coaching allows me to work with clients who don't require a mental health diagnosis, whose work may be more future-oriented than past, and those who live anywhere in the world.
Services are currently provided in person, via tele-therapy, by phone, or via eco-therapy.
My fee is $150.00 for a 50-minute therapy session; longer sessions may be helpful with EMDR or relationship sessions. I am credentialed with the following insurance providers (in-network): Aetna, United Healthcare, Oscar Health, Oxford, CenCal, and Cigna. I would be considered out-of-network with any other insurance, and can provide a superbill for services, which would allow you to be reimbursed. I also accept private pay for services. I do provide a sliding scale and can periodically accept a lower fee for services; please inquire about this. I am a proud member of Give An Hour.
Good Faith Estimate:
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Feel free to send a message! I make every effort to respond back within 48 hours.
